Of allof the musicians who ever lived Debussy (1862-1918) was known for hisoriginality and adventurous style. His influences soon spreadthroughout the Western world. He, before long, became a wizard inEurope, North America, and Asiatemporarily breaking the publicsfascination with the monolithic composers of the classical andromantic eras. Because of Debussys moving compositions Impressionismsoon spread into chur ches, schools, ballrooms, along with respectedtheatres and concert halls. Although Claude Debussy was an amazingorchestral composer, his works seemed to agree most with the piano.Today, one of the most known pieces of piano repertoire is the pianosuite, Claire de Lune. Many composers started to become inspired byDebussy and thus The Impressionist Era was born. In the later years tocome Debussy would have never guessed his music would be so powerfuland destructive.In 1876 unrest soon came to France, and ironically held in the middlewas Impressionism. Today many would compare this to the sixties wheremore liberal habits cause social disturbance. Historians to this dayare still shocked with how such an uplifting, and positive movementcould cause so much strife. Riots and political vendetta soon arousedFrance, causing unofficial anarchy in which the government waspowerless. This national misfortune was actually caused by feudingbetween the Socialists and Democratics using impressionism as theirweapon of war. The Impressionist Era was said by political contracters tobe expressing an mental picture in Frances politics, and since mostimpressionists were French this point had a strong siding.
